1. Choose healthy snacks like fruit, yoghurt or nuts and seeds.
2. Cut the fat off meat before you eat it.
3. Always eat breakfast. Try a fruit smoothy or whole grain cereals.
4. Eat food that has been grilled or boiled instead of fried in oil.
5. Drink water or milk instead of sugary drinks- its good for your teeth too!
6. Only have chips and fatty foods once in a while.
7. Experiment with cooking new foods, you may find new ways to enjoy them!
And finally, try to eat regular meals with your family, you are less likely to snack on unhealthy food and it gives you a chance to catch up with their daily news!
What is a healthy diet?
We need to eat the correct foods and the right amount of them to keep our bodies healthy. This food pyramid shows which foods we need to eat a lot of, these are at the bottom of the pyramid. It also shows which foods we should only be eating occasionally, these are at the top. The glasses at the bottom of the pyramid show the amount of water we should drink each day to remain healthy.
